One of the most advanced aircraft in the world, the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning is a fifth-generation multi-role fighter designed to dominate airspace, using stealth technologies to operate undetected in enemy airspace, strike at the heart of the enemy, or relay vital battlefield intelligence to other friendly forces. The UK has chosen the STOVL (Short Take-off and Vertical Landing) variant of the F-35, which allows the aircraft to operate from traditional airfields, from the decks of the UK's two new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, and from dispersed locations if required, much as the famous Harrier did previously. In British service, the F-35 will not carry the Lightning II designation, as the new jet is the third aircraft in RAF service to carry that name, after the Lockheed P-38 of World War II and the famous English Electric Lightning that saw service during the Cold War. 42 parts, length built 218 mm / width 152 mm / height 61 mm.
